“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”
This is what Reetamaria aims in her artistry.
After her master studies with Hans Pålsson at the Malmö Academy of Music where she graduated with the highest honors in 2019 Reetamaria has dedicated herself to interpreting minimalist and contemporary compositions as a solo pianist. Her debut album, "SILENCE," released in 2022, displays the captivating simplicity of Nordic minimalism by esteemed Finnish and Swedish composers.
In 2026 she released her second solo-album "Stories" focusing on finno-swedish composer Cecilia Damström, recording her whole piano production. Rajala is known also for her Stories-podcast, the role she will get to continue with, making a new podcast “Reeta in the music Wonderland” about classical music. Rajala is signed to the biggest Finnish classical music record label Alba Records as a recording solo artist, producer and a host.
Reetamaria has also collaborated with musicians like Evelyn Glennie (with Kvinnorkestern in 2022), accordionist Minna Weurlander (at the Sibeliusfestival at Malmö Live in 2021, a producer of her debut album SILENCE 2022). Currently, she is engaged in collaborative projects with composers, interdisciplinary art forms, organisations and festivals across the Nordic countries and the UK.
In 2018 Reetamaria Rajala was awarded The Music Prize of the Lund University Science Society. The award was given with the following statement:
“The pianist Reetamaria Rajala’s lively, temperamental and inspirational personality and musicianship, her energy and dedication to every work she studies and plays makes her an outstanding soloist and also an excellent chamber musician. She has a desire to penetrate the secrets of complicated musical works and an ever-growing ability to work. Reetamaria Rajala is already an artistic force in our music life.”
